When it was time for me to design my save-the-date cards and wedding invitation, I had no doubts I wanted our picture on them. Having a picture of the couple either on the save-the-date cards or wedding invitation helps everyone start feeling the LOVE and imagine the ceremony, the reception, and everything in between.
I designed mine on my own because I’ve always loved messing with graphic designing, photography, and these types of things. But if you don’t know your way around a graphic design software, don’t worry. Because nowadays, there are a ton of websites and companies that can help you customize the perfect wedding invitation without much work on your part.
On this post, I’m sharing 7 stunning wedding invitations and save-the-date cards with pictures of the couple so you can feel inspired to create your own! But before we start looking at them, let’s go over a few things you’ll want to keep in mind when choosing your wedding invitation.
Things to keep in mind when creating your wedding invitation and save-the-date cards
- Your save-the-date cards and wedding invitations are going to be the first impression your guests will have about your party. With these in hand, your guests should be able to view important information such as location, date, and time, and also a little bit of the style and vibe of the wedding itself.
- The wedding invitation and save-the-date cards are not the only papers you’ll create for your wedding. They’re part of the visual identity of the party. So when you think about their design, you can also start planning all the wedding stationery such as signs, tags, menu labels, seating charts, wedding programs, and more.
- All of your wedding stationery should reflect your style ad your fiancé’s and tell a little bit about your story. Even the text should be able to somehow reveal your personality. So take your time and think carefully when designing it all.
7 Stunning Wedding Invitations and Save-the-Date Cards with Pictures of Couple
Let’s take a look at 7 incredible styles of wedding invitation and save-the-date cards with photos of the couple. You can either choose to have a photo of you and your fiancé on both or on either one of them.
In my case, I chose to have a picture of us on both because I wanted to share our love with everyone as much as I could!
In the options I selected, there are light and dark backgrounds, cursive, modern, and vintage fonts. And a lot more to choose from. These were all made by Basic Invite.
With Basic Invite you have almost unlimited options of color, over 40 colors of envelopes to choose from, over 900 wedding invitation sets (basically, all the wedding stationery you’ll need). They also have a super cool free address collection service, in which all you have to do is share a link via social media, email or text with your friends and family members, and collect their addresses.
Now let’s take a look at some incredible wedding invitation and save-the-date card ideas!
#1. Light background with cursive font
This first option features a beautiful cursive font with a light background. This was probably an outdoor photo with lots of natural light to brighten it up. Then, the exposure was certainly increased to make it even lighter.
What I like about this option is that it helps highlight the dark blue text on the top. If a light font had been chosen, it would have been too hard to read.
#2. High contrast photo with dark background and modern font.
For this save-the-date card, they played with high contrast everywhere. From the photo to the background. They chose dark clothes and a light background for their photo. They chose a dark background for the text and a very light color for the font. Everything comes together beautifully.
Notice that they also made the same photo, the highlight of their wedding website, which was a great idea. Most companies that create wedding invitations and save-the-date card templates also create free wedding websites. Therefore, making it easier for us to match everything.
#3. A mix of font styles and urban setting
I love that in this one they were a little bolder mixing such distinct font styles right on the top of the card. I also love the urban setting in the background. It actually looks incredibly similar to the background of my save-the-date card!
#4. Photos everywhere
Yesssss, yes, yes! This is what I’m talking about. Let’s share incredible moments with our guests so they can already start feeling excited to celebrate our special moment with us. I love the romantic vibe of this one and the golden font.
#5. Bold colors with vintage fonts and style
Bold colors and proposal for a wedding weekend getaway. We can find an incredibly romantic vibe in the photo and a mix of vintage and modern fonts. As we talked about in the beginning, this should be what the guests expect to find on the wedding day.
#6. How about just plain bold and romantic?
The gold leaves and text give the Save-the-Date cards and invitation a chic and romantic look. The photo just helps elevate this feel and tell us more of their story.
#7. Completely modern and bold
We can see modern in their colors of choice, font, and concept. I love that he’s kind of whispering in her ear in the Save-the-Date card. It makes us wonder what he’s saying to make her laugh.
This combo of Save-the-Date and invitation captures our attention and makes us wonder what comes next.
If you take the time to read their invitation you’ll see how bold they were even in the text. It starts differently than any other invitation I’ve ever seen, “Annie loves Chris and Chris loves Annie”. How do you like this? I think it made their invitation completely unique.
I really hope you found these tips helpful
