This post is sponsored by Mattel, but all opinions are my own. You can read my full disclosure policy here.With the Holidays around the corner, it’s crucial that we stay on top of the gift list and the latest trends on the market!
I don’t know about you, but I always have a hard time figuring out what to give to each person, so every time they give me a hint or I see something special that reminds me of them, I make notes. This is how I (sometimes) manage to snag the perfect gifts.
With the Thomas & Friends Super Station, I knew that it would be the perfect holiday gift for my boys! I couldn’t have been more excited to receive this incredible preschool toy to review. Be ready, because I won’t leave any details out.
Let’s take a look at the highlights of the Thomas & Friends Super Station
Honestly, I was impressed with how many hours the boys were able to keep playing with the same toy. When we assembled the tracks and brought them to the living room, they were in a state of awe!
They kept playing with it for hours and hours and the best part is that the layout we chose has a dual racetrack, which allowed both of them to play with minimal disagreements!
To the highlights…
Several different layouts
The Thomas & Friends Super Station’s instruction manual teaches you how to assemble the tracks in 4 different layouts, allowing you to place them in any space in your home.
The legs are optional, and taking them off makes the fourth layout, which is a micro one and can fit in small rooms.
The layouts are:
- Dual Racetrack, which is the one we chose, so the boys could play together;
- Racetrack, which is fairly large, but offers tons of entertainment for the kids;
- Compact, which is still tall, but saves some space with the racetracks;
- Micro, which has no legs and occupies the least space possible.
These are the layouts available in the manual, but there are no limits to what your child can come up with when they resort to their own imagination.
Works with any Thomas & Friends engines
The fact that The Thomas & Friends Super Station works with any engine scale just brings us, parents, peace of mind.
With it being compatible with any Thomas & Friends engines, there’s just no way we’ll buy a toy that doesn’t work with the engines our kids have or vice-versa.
The Thomas & Friends Super Station works with the following engines:
- Thomas & Friends Adventures;
- Wooden Railway.
The additional engines are sold separately.
This ultimate playset also comes with track adapters that connect the roads to other Thomas & Friends playsets that can be additionally purchased as well.
What’s included in the set
The set not only comes with 35 feet of track plus floor play, but several different engines are also included.
Engines included in the Super Station playset:
- One Thomas & Friends Trackmaster: Thomas (battery operated and moves on its own);
- One Thomas & Friends Adventures: Percy;
- One Thomas & Friends MINIS: James.
- Plastic Harold.
- Track adapters that connect the roads to other Thomas & Friends playsets;
- Turntable with a stop-track lever for TrackMaster engines;
- One crane that lifts and lowers a cargo lift or anything else you attach to its hook;
And… the station holds over one hundred engines and different little spots around the structure.
My husband and I spent about 25 minutes assembling the dual racetrack layout of the Thomas & Friends Super Station.
Once you figure out which pieces are which (and they come carefully labeled), it’s a breeze to put the whole thing together.
The manual is mostly images and a just few pieces of text, which makes it super interactive and easy to understand.
Final thoughts on the Thomas & Friends Super Station Preschool Toy
Once put together, the structure is sturdy and firm. It has the perfect height, working for my 4-year-old son as well as it does for my 2-year-old.
It’s made for kids 3+ years, but smaller children can manage to play too if supervised. I didn’t find any small parts that could be dangerous to them.
The only thing is that they would have to be careful and understand what type of game it is so they don’t mess up with the tracks, keeping the other kids from playing too.
Overall, I’m really happy with it, especially because it keeps the kids entertained for a long time, allowing me to either have a lot of fun with them or get some work done on the blog or some things done around the house.
There’s no doubt that your kids will LOVE this Thomas & Friends ultimate playset as a Holiday gift or as a gift on any other occasion! I would hurry to the Walmart website or stores and get it before they run out!
Have you finished your Holiday gift list? If not, this is the perfect opportunity to check one more gift off that list and make a child extremely happy this Holiday season!
