Since our first born was in his toddler years and was able to crawl and have more elaborate play times than chewing on a teether, we’ve had a tent in his bedroom. All I can say is that the tent was always his favorite place to hide from us, play with stuffed animals and read books!
We used to have a tent that looked like a colorful circus and it went really well with his bedroom decor at the time, but since then, we’ve had a little addition to our family, called Daniel.
Above, you can see the colorful circus tent we used to have before the makeover!
When they started sharing a bedroom and we did a complete bedroom makeover, we knew we had to get a new tent. Preferably, one that had a more current style.
That would totally be a Teepee tent!
The Mint Kids Teepee Tent we picked
The boys’ bedroom decor is mint & grey (side note: everything in between mint and aqua are my very favorite colors).
We were very much determined to get a Teepee when we heard about Teepee Joy and decided to partner up with them to finish decorating the boys’ retreat! They sent us the Teepee of our choice, which is one of their pre-designed Teepees, The Mint To Be.
I always wondered how in the world you put one of these together. I thought it would be extremely hard, but the team at Teepee Joy has a super detailed video with all the assembling instructions, which makes it a breeze to put the Teepee together!
Here’s how easy it is to assemble the Teepee Tent:
First of all, all that comes in the package is:
- 8 wooden sticks
- 1 rope
- 1 Teepee Tent
All you have to do is connect 2 wooden sticks at a time, which will make 4 long ones. Then you insert them in the fabric holes in the Teepee Tent. Once you’re done, thread the rope through the holes in the top of the wooden sticks and tie it with a knot.
It will look like this:
Now, what I described above is just a summarized version of the original instructions so you can have an overview of the process of assembling the Teepee.
To actually be able to put it together, you should definitely take a look at that short (2-minute) video I told you about. Here’s the link to it again. I’m a visual person and being able to see someone in action just makes it a lot easier for myself.
How we made their little Mint Teepee Tent Kids Corner an intentional place for them to enjoy:
First, I made sure to put some fluffy pillows for them to sit on, or jump on, or lie on (whatever they wanna do in there)! Then, I added a cute cactus pillow for decoration purposes!?
Next, I added a white basket with some of their favorite books so they can take some time to read together or on their own.
Finally, I wanted to make their Teepee Kids Corner stand out from the rest of the bedroom, so I added a grey and white Chevron rug to separate the inside of the Teepee from the rest of the bedroom. (I couldn’t find the same rug for sale anymore, so here’s a similar one.)
I hope you enjoyed the tour of the boys’ newest favorite spot in the house! We’re all in love with our Teepee and it’s become one of our go-to hiding locations when playing hide-and-seek!
If you’re on the fence about getting a Teepee Tent for your child, I couldn’t recommend it enough. In these short weeks that we’ve had the Teepee, we’ve already created a lifetime worth of fun family memories!
