At my house, we’re all crazy about pulled pork! We always were, but for a long time, we tried making them in the oven and it just didn’t cut it. We could never figure out the correct temperature or time it had to be in there.
Sometimes it would work and it turned out delicious. Other times, not so much!
When we made it in the slow cooker for the first time, we were impressed by how easy and delicious it was. You season it, set it in the cooker, and forget it!
It’s extremely convenient for us, with little ones and a busy schedule. It takes about 10 hours to cook, but you don’t have to babysit the meat.
If we want it for lunch, we make sure to put the pork in the slow cooker the night before. Then, we turn the cooker off in the morning and violà! It’s ready. If we want it for dinner, we turn it on in the morning and by dinner time, the meat is ready.
There’s nothing easier than that. Is there? Slow cookers are my new thing! (Being Brazilian, we took a long time to try them out. So naive… We had no idea how much we were missing out on).

Our slow cooker is manual and it works just fine for us. There’s nothing too complicated about it. In fact, it’s very simple. You only have 3 options: low, high, warm, which doesn’t leave a lot of room for confusion!
I use it on low most of the time and let the food cook for several hours, like from 8 to 10 hours. I only use the high setting if I only have a few hours, but the whole point of a slow cooker is to let it simmer and bring out the flavor in the food, right?
