Are you looking for an Easy Homemade Beef Chili Recipe to serve on a weeknight dinner? Well, you found the one. This recipe is super easy to whip up together and it tastes amazing! The whole family is going to LOVE it!
Being from Brazil, I didn’t grow up eating Chili. If I’m being completely honest, I had never even heard of it until I spent a year in Canada as a teenager. Lucky for me, there, I was able to try an amazing Homemade Beef Chili recipe!
My host mother made me Chili for supper numerous times and I instantly fell in love with the dish. When I moved to the US, I bought a can of Chili and I was hoping to taste all the amazingness she cooked for me.
Needless to say that I was quite disappointed when I got the first spoon in my mouth. It tasted so different! Not in a pleasant way, I may add. Nothing like the one in the picture above (which is the recipe I’m about to share! Yum.)
Canned Beef Chili will never taste like a true Homemade Beef Chili Recipe
This is genuinely the truth! No canned beef chili will ever taste like a true homemade Beef Chili recipe! I learned it the hard way. And so did my husband.
When he told me he hated Beef Chili, I just couldn’t believe it! So, I took on the challenge to try and recreate that delicious Homemade Beef Chili recipe my Canadian host mom used to make me 11 years ago.
I made the recipe, and guess what? It turns out he’s a big fan of (a true homemade) Beef Chili himself!
Woohoo! And I’m stoked to share this special recipe with you and I hope you will love it as much as we do!
The secret to my Homemade Beef Chili
There are a couple of reasons why this easy homemade Beef Chili recipe tastes like homemade and not like canned. I absolutely make everything from scratch, even the beans (you don’t have to, but it will be worth the time if you do).

How do you easily cook the beans from scratch?
After I discovered the electric pressure cooker I was set for life. The beans are now one of the easiest things I cook! I used to be super afraid to cook them in a regular pressure cooker, and it takes forever if you just cook them in a standard saucepan.
All you need to do is put all of these ingredients in the electric pressure cooker and press the beans button: 1lb bag beans, 1/2 onion (diced), 2 tbs garlic (minced), sprinkle bay leaves (dried, chopped), salt, pepper. Adjust the electric pressure cooker timer to 40 minutes. That’s it.
Obviously, 1 pound of beans will be a lot more than what you need for this recipe. But you can freeze the remaining beans in several small containers and pop them out of the freezer for a quick burrito dinner or anything else you want!
So this is my secret for deliciousness and practicality: I make the beans from scratch (in advance.) This way, I have them handy whenever I feel like cooking Chili or anything else with beans.
So now, to the Easy Homemade Beef Chili Recipe:
Sometimes, we pair our homemade Beef Chili with Basmati rice. Other times, we pair it up with cornbread and some fresh veggies. We also like to top it with cheddar cheese and sour cream!
