I get asked a lot about how to make money blogging. A lot of people don’t believe you can actually get paid to blog, but the truth is that there’s thousands of bloggers making thousands of dollars every single month. Some bloggers even make 7 figures annually. Can you believe it?
I’m not there yet, but I do make money from blogging and once you start getting paid to blog, your income goes up quickly if you work hard. But, you gotta be willing to put in the work, and it’s hard work. No kidding.
My husband and I opened a clothing company before I started my blog, and after a year, the blog + my Instagram page were bringing a higher income than the online clothing store was.
We saw the potential the blog had, and this is one of the reasons why we shut down our other business and decided that I would focus my time and efforts on the blog.
There are tons of ways you can make money blogging.
A few ways you can make money blogging are:
- Selling products (courses, e-books, printables)
- Selling services (coaching, training, consulting, designing, copy writing)
- Affiliate marketing;
- Sponsored posts.
This is only to name a few. There’s even more ways to make money blogging, but in this post we’re going to focus on creating sponsored posts when working with brands.
I will share my best tips on how to find and apply for collaborations. Also, on how to proceed when working with them, so you can blow their mind and be highly sought after.

As I said before, blogging is hard work so I’m not going give you a magical formula that will allow you to make money blogging overnight. There’s no such thing. What I’m going to share here with you today are tools and tips that will allow you to improve your work and find brands that will hire you.
I’ve been working with brands for over a year now and it’s a little hard to get started, but once you do, it becomes a lot easier. Brands start seeing your work and trusting you as a blogger.
Create killer content
In order to work with large and renowned brands, you need to have amazing content! Not only because the brand wants to be well represented by you, but because your audience needs to have a reason to read your posts. With no audience, no one is going to want to hire you.
Be creative with the photos you put out there. You know how sometimes you have an incredible idea? When you finally execute it, it doesn’t look anything like what you had planned? This happened to me so many times before.
Sometimes, the photographer doesn’t get your vision at all. Other times, the location you chose for the shoot doesn’t allow what you had envisioned and so on.
This sucks, but it happens all the time, so make sure to take as many shots as you can. This way, you’ll have room when selecting the images to be used on the post.
If for some reason, the type of sponsored post you’re writing allows you to use stock photos, make sure to select a very good one. Even if you have to pay for it. In the end, you’re getting paid for this job, so make sure to do your best!
Your readers matter
When you write your content, always have your readers in mind. After all, it’s them you’re writing for. You’re writing about the brand and for your readers!
Ask yourself if what you’re writing is helpful, relatable and important to your audience. Is this going to improve their lives in some way?
Putting your best content out there will allow your readers to keep coming back for more. This way, your audience will grow as people like and share what you posted. It’s a win win!
Great content will also open a door for you to create a long term partnership with the brand. Meaning, you’ll make even more money blogging!
Get paid what your work is worth
If you’ve been creating sponsored posts for some time now, you can skip this section. Go straight to the next.
If you’re just starting out, in my opinion it’s ok to do a couple of sponsored posts for FREE. This will allow you to start gaining experience and putting yourself out there. It will build your confidence, and make you more comfortable working with brands.
Now, if you’ve been doing this for some time, you have to determine some rates! After all, you wanna make money blogging. Don’t you? No one works for free and you shouldn’t either.
A lot of brands haven’t realized that writing copy and creating stunning images take time and a lot of work. If we don’t start showing them that, no one will.
You’ll be surprised with how much serious brands are willing to pay for your outstanding content! Try to start charging a small fee, then increase it with time.
Be real, be authentic, be you
As you know, there are millions of bloggers out there. Do you know what makes brands wanna work with you? You! You are the biggest reason why they wanna work with you.
Only you will be able to write like you do, photograph like you do, have the ideas that you have. Don’t try to be like someone you’re not. At some point, you’ll get tired of it and people will too. Be real, be authentic, show your personality, be you. Even if you think people won’t like it.
The truth is, you’ll never be able to please everyone. No one is. So just be you and you’ll find your tribe, your people, your raving fans. People who are in love with you and the way you write, talk and share experiences!
Get paid to blog! Find brands and apply to work with them
In this whole year I’ve worked with brands, I’ve developed a relationship with many influencer marketing agencies. This is my preferred way to work with brands.
I feel like it’s safe for me, for the brand and for my content. The agency will ensure you make your money, as well as the brand gets what was promised to them.
I will share my favorite agencies to work with. Now, none of them are perfect. All of them have pros and cons, but I trust them and I still work with them.
Some, I like more than the others, but I’m not gonna go into details in this post. I will leave it for another one.

Socialix: It was one of the first agencies I worked with and made money. I love that you can see all the options and apply to the ones you’re interested in.
IZEA: They pay really well. If you want to make money blogging, do sign up with them!
Linqia: There’s always a good amount of opportunities, especially with large and well known brands. You get paid based on your work. It’s a pay per click system, but sometimes they have a separate rate for video projects.
Social Fabric: They have a huge variety of collaborations to choose from and you get to see all of them and apply to the ones you want.
TapInfluence: It took me a long time to get my first collaboration with them, but once I did others kept coming my way. I like how much they pay. Also, you get direct access to the brand, which allows you to develop a long term relationship/partnership with the brand.
Octoly: It’s a free store for influencers. There’s no payment involved, but it’s a good place to get products you want to try or want to buy. In this case, you’ll buy it with your work. All you have to do is review the product within 21 days of it’s arrival. You can also win octpoints and exchange it for gift cards. They have a lot of beauty products.
